Malawi is a small land-locked
country in Southeast Africa.

Malawi is approximately the size
of England with 20% of its area taken
up with a freshwater lake (Lake Malawi, aka Lake Nyassa). The lake is
approximately 365 miles long by 52 miles wide.
With a surface area of 31,000 km (12,000 miles), Lake Malawi is the
third largest African lake, and tenth largest in the world. Its surface
is 474 meters (1555 feet) above sea level, but its maximum depth of 704
meters (2310 feet) makes it the fourth deepest
lake in the world.
